Munich’s universities join forces to create impact on a global scale – MGI contract awarded
We’re pleased to announce that MUC SUMMIT GmbH (MUST – The Munich Innovation Ecosystem) has accepted a contract from the three leading local universities the Hochschule München – University of Applied Sciences (HM), Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) and Technical University of Munich (TUM) and their entrepreneurship centers, Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship, LMU Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center and UnternehmerTUM GmbH to act as the Ecosystem Integrator for the Munich Global Impact (MGI) joint project as part of their joint EXIST Potentiale application. The MGI initiative is a highly specialized innovation accelerator inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that facilitates impactful business building and co-creation with Munich’s unique entrepreneurial ecosystem.
EXIST is a public funding measure of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) for universities and their entrepreneurial networks. Universities supported by this program can expect to achieve a visible and dynamic start-up culture. These activities support the innovative and entrepreneurial efforts of young talent, building bridges between science and business. EXIST Potentiale focuses on the three pillars of “regional networking,” “lifting potentials” and “convincing internationally.” Munich Global Impact addresses the third of these pillars.
The HM, LMU and TUM together with their entrepreneurship centers, jointly applied for this funding with their concept of setting up a program to attract national and international entrepreneurial talents, technology-based projects and start-ups. They anchored their innovations in the Munich ecosystem with a commitment to responsible entrepreneurship and societal impact. MUC SUMMIT thereby functions as the common Ecosystem Integrator.
By accepting this contract, MUC SUMMIT is set to build a strong online and offline community and support the establishment of the MGI. As part of the project – which will run until April 2024 – MUC SUMMIT will bring on board partnerships within the ecosystem, run a digital platform to accompany the project and oversee a multichannel communication strategy to ensure a thriving and co-creative workflow for the various stakeholders associated with MGI.
We’ll be regularly updating you about this exciting project.
